Automated Clinical Audit

The need to obtain accurate health intelligence from practices is increasing but the differences in audit capability and output format from different clinical systems makes this a difficult task for PCT's LHB's and CCG's.

Our reporting tool can be used in a number of ways and can be tailored to suit your needs.

How Does It Work?

Our system schedules each query for the practice at a time/frequency decided by the practice, PCT, LHB or CCG. The frequency can be amended centrally at any time. When the practice system automatically connects to the Scheduler and identifies that a query is waiting for download. The query is downloaded and run automatically during the next run window – typically 02:00–07:00 the next day. The output spreadsheet(s) are created ready for the practiceto review and in addition a data file, typically an anonymised XML file, is also created. The anonymised non patient identifiable data file is securely transmitted automatically to Oberoi servers or the CCG's / PCT's own servers.

Security

Multiple and overlapping encryption techniques are used to ensure that data is secure. The standards exceed those required by Connecting for Health [Reference: NPFIT-PC-PMG-DEL-0047.02: "GPSoc Requirements for the Secure Storage and Transmission of Patient Identifiable Data" and NPFIT-FNTTO-IG-GPG-0004.01: "Approved Cryptographic Algorithms".

Data sent outside the practice is anonymised using a 24 digit alphanumeric identifier. No data is ever sent outside the practice without the partners knowledge and express permission.

The reporting tool is currently compatible with the following GP Clinical systems:

  • InPS Vision 3
  • iSOFT Premiere, Synergy, System 6000
  • Microtest Evolution, Practice Manager
  • Healthy Software
  • SeeTec
  • Ascribe

Compatible versions are under development for the following GP Clinical systems:

  • EMIS PCS Enterprise, Web
  • InPS Vision Enterprise
  • TPP SystmOne

Automated Clinical Audit FAQs

Q1- How is agreement reached with the practice to extract the data? Is this something that Oberoi deal with?

Oberoi will facilitate and manage this process.

Q2 - Does someone have to attend the surgery to load the software? What impact does this have regarding system security and installing software onto a practice PC?

The software is currently already in place in 7000 practices across the country. If not already loaded and working it can be installed remotely by Oberoi over a secure internet session where access is granted by the practice and all activities are fully visible at the practice. The process does not affect the practice support agreements and the connection is secure.

Q3 – How is running the structured report built into the tool?

The automated schedule is controlled remotely. No requirement is needed to dial in or contact the practice to change the frequency as this can be done centrally by Oberoi so it is very easy to amend.
